We are deeply saddened to report the death of Maureen Fletcher on Thursday 13th February.
In addition to being the wife of NA Executive Board member  Malcolm Fletcher, Maureen was a familiar and well-loved figure in her own right as she stood guard over the tea urn and handed out tea, biscuits and sympathy with a smile, a kind word and a wicked sense of humour, (woe betide anyone who took too many chocolate biscuits).
In spite of her long standing ill health, Maureen never complained and would turn up to events throughout the country week in, week out.
Maureen was a Barnsley lass through & through – honest, kind, tough, funny and brave as a lion! She will be very much missed for a long time to come.
All our thoughts and sympathies go out to Malcolm and his family.

Our very kindly person who will be a great loss to all of us who came into contact with her. I will personally miss her smile, devilish sense of humour and the coffee always on tap. My love and prayers to Malcolm and his lovely family. xxx

A great loss to athletics, particularly Northern Athletics. Maureen was a very brave, cheerful and lovely lady and never complained of the severe pain she was obviously suffering. When she was well enough she would provide all officials with something to eat and drink and where possible assist with other tasks such as paying out travelling expenses. A great ‘lass’ and she will be sorely missed
