Derby AC and Derbyshire report the sad news that Peter Wilkinson died suddenly on 20th February at the age of 80. Peter was a quiet but inspirational member of Derby & County AC and latterly Derby AC. He won the bronze medal in the 1958 Empire & Commonwealth Games marathon in Cardiff and a member of the very strong Derby & County club during the 1960’s. He became a dedicated coach at Derby and was always available to offer advice if asked. He was the former Treasurer of the county association. He was a qualified Field Judge but recently had stepped aside from judging.
Peter’s funeral will be on Wednesday 19th March at 12.30pm at St Marys Church, Church Lane, Attenborough NG9 6AS where Peter cut the grass and had been a member of the church choir. The funeral service will be followed with another short service at Bramcote Crematorium, Coventry Lane, Bramcote, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 3GJ at 2.00pm followed by the wake at Attenborough Cricket Club.
