Northern Area RWA 20km Champs.

Douglas, Isle of Man   –   Saturday 7^th March 2015

 This took place in conjunction with the Ascot Hotel Open Meeting, organized by Manx Harriers. Conditions on the traffic-free road circuit surrounding the National Sports Centre were very cold and extremely windy ! As is usual for this fixture a strong Irish contingent were present under Head Coach Michael Lane.

 Evan Lynch of Ireland was a debut winner of the Open 20Km, 11 minutes clear of his compatriot David Kidd. Some fine long distance walkers contended for the Northern Championship with Michael George eventually ceding to Richard Gerrard. Michael was followed by Richard Wild and David Walker, these three winning the Northern Team Title for Manx Harriers.

 Well done to the athletes in all races and supporting events for their performances in difficult circumstances. Our thanks go to event sponsors the Ascot Hotel, the enthusiastic members of Manx H for their work on the day and to the officials who travelled over from the mainland. The ferry crossing was certainly interesting !
