2015 / 2016 Cross Country Team events.
Northern Athletics will be sending teams, as outlined below, to the events shown.
There is also some information as to selection criteria that will be used for the event teams.
As previously, the aim is to select younger developing athletes, so they can gain valuable experience of International standard races and competition.
Cross Challenge Sefton Park, Liverpool 28th November
We are asking athletes who wish to be considered to represent the North to enter the event via the British Athletics website / Cross Challenge entry system.
We will then select the team from those who have entered. The teams of male & female Senior & Junior (IAAF age group) athletes (6 to run 4 to score) will be given Northern vests, and their entry fees will be reimbursed. There will be no travel expenses, meals or accommodation provided, as this is an initial trial inter area event.
Selection will be based upon recent performances and the times run at the Northern Cross Country Relays on the 17th October
Brussells 20th December
Teams of 4 senior men and 4 senior women. Selection will be based upon recent form including Area and National XC relays and the Sefton Park Cross Challenge.
The plan is to travel out on Saturday the 19th December, from regional airport(s) in the North and return on Sunday afternoon / evening, after the race.
Team managers will be Kevin Hussey and Sally Malia.
Antrim 16th Jan
We plan to take teams of 4 male & female junior athletes to the Cross Challenge event.
Selection will be based upon XC form from XC relays and county Championships.
Home Countries International, Falkirk Scotland 19th March
We plan to take 4 teams of 4 (Senior and junior male & female). Selection will be based upon this seasons performance – particularly the Northern Championships. Where we plan to offer places to the first 2 finishers in each category, who wish to compete here.
We are also looking to recruit and appoint some new team managers – both male & female, but particularly females.
