News reaches us of the death of Harold Goode on Monday 23rd November 2015 at the age of 95.
Originally from Rotherham Harold began his athletics career in the 1930s as a middle distance runner, he later moved to Stockport after WW2 and became involved in Cheshire athletics.
He was Chairman of Cheadle & Gatley AC for a number of years which became Stretford AC in 1965 (later Trafford) Harold was an active official, a starter working many of the top international meetings until a stroke in 1989 forced him to scale back some of his activities. He was also he was Hon secretary of the Cheshire Men’s AA for many years before it amalgamated with the Cheshire Women’s AA in the late 1980’s. In 2001 Harold received the John Young award for outstanding services to Cheshire athletics.
Funeral will be on Tuesday 8th December at 10.00 in the Rowan Chapel of Stockport Crematorium ( Buxton Road, Stockport SK2 6LS)
