The 2015 N A 10K road championship, rescheduled after the cancellation of the flood hit Ribble Valley race, was incorporated in the Dewsbury 10k held Sunday 7th February
With an early 9.00 start , just yards from the Northern Athletics office, the race has an early climb away from Dewsbury town centre and today the chilly wind would be against the athletes for most of the race after that initial section.
The mens race quickly became a two man battle, that went down to the finish line. Mohammed Aburezeq ahead of Gateshead’s Matthew Hynes by just 1 second on the line 30.06 against 30.07, but these 2 were 90 seconds clear of 3rd place Hallamshire’s David Archer, who was also just 1 second ahead of 4th placed Jamil Parapie. Hallamshire with 3, 5, and 14 positions won the Team event .
In the womens race the class of England International Charlene Thomas was clear to see as won in a time of 33.33, and by some 90 seconds from her clubmate Julie Briscoe,SharonBarlow 3rd in 36.03 almost a minute behind.
Charlene also led the Wakefield women to the wimmimg team slot with positions 1,2 and 9
