Northern Athletics XC Equalisation Survey Statement

Northern Athletics would like to thank the 82 clubs and 9 County Associations for submitting their responses to our survey on the issue of cross-country equalisation. The clubs who responded had a total of 13,723 registered athletes and as a result those represented in this Northern survey consisted of a higher number of individuals than those who submitted responses to the UKA survey.

We have been sitting on the results, expecting that we would be using them as further evidence of grassroot opinion within our sport on this matter. This survey result is strongly against equalising distances and we will use it, if and when necessary, when we meet with UKA and continue the fight against this ill-judged initiative.

However, as you all will have seen, from the statement issued by UKA they have now revised their view. We are unclear as to whether this is an end of the matter but one key issue we are clear on, following our Northern survey, that we are now fully aware of your opinion on this matter and we intend to deliver that message loud and clear.

The responses to the 5 questions can be viewed on the pdf summary link below

Thanks again for all your support in this matter!
