Telford 10k 2025 Report

This year, Northern Athletics agreed to send a senior male and female team to the Telford 10k. Selection for both teams had been based on the 6 & 4 Stage Road Relays at Leigh back in September 2025. There were male and female teams from the Midlands, Wales, North Wales and UKaF entered for the Telford 10k alongside our own Northern teams.
The Telford 10k is a popular race seeing over 1300 athletes from far and wide competing on a cold Sunday morning. The course itself consists of a flat 2 lap, well sheltered course within the Telford Town Park. Known to be the fastest 10k course in the UK, expectations were high for some stellar performances, and we were not disappointed, seeing 39 runners coming in under 30 minutes.
The race itself was split into four waves, with elite men in wave one, elite ladies and further men in wave two and further ladies and men in waves three and four. It’s a narrow start to the race followed quickly by a short downhill taking the runners into the start of the loop that makes up the lap.
The Northern Athletics men’s team finished in 3rd place with 21 points, John Battrick (Keswick) 6th, John Beattie (Leeds City) 7th and Ewan Busfield (Derby) 8th. The Midlands team won with 10 points, and Wales taking 2nd place with 14 points.
The Northern Athletics women’s team had a brilliant run finishing in 1st position with 10 points! Jade Morgan (Liverpool) 1st, Faye O’Hare (Liverpool) 3rd and Sophie Tarver (Wirral) 6th. The Midlands team took 2nd position with 15 points and Wales taking 3rd place with 20 points.
What was really enjoyable to see in this race, especially waves 1 and 2 with it involving quite a narrow-cramped start followed by a long downhill into the park, was how everyone gave it their all from start to finish, racing throughout and holding nothing back for the closing stages. The 7 athletes who wore their northern vests on Sunday all crossed the finish line with nothing left to give. Fantastic to see – well done everyone.
