Northern Athletics is deeply saddened to report the death of Sheila Bolland, one of our best known and loyal field judges.
In addition to her officiating duties, Sheila was known throughout the North for many reasons not least for her irrepressible enthusiasm for the sport. She was a stalwart of Spenborough AC and Yorkshire AA dispensing sandwiches, drinks, advice, humour and orders at every level.
Sheila always had a kind word, a big smile and a joke for every occasion – not least in her competitive days (beginning in her 50’s) when she was slogging around Cross Country courses and throwing hammers for the sheer joy of taking part.
Our thoughts are with Sheila’s husband Trevor, children and grandchildren including daughter Amanda, another of our Northern officials.
Sheila was a one off and she will be very much missed.

Tuesday 30th January at 1.15 at Dewsbury Crematorium
afterwards at the Marsh Pub in Cleckheaton.
