All associated with Northern Athletics are deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of leading Timekeeper Kevin Johns, who collapsed whilst out for his usual Saturday walk. First responders were alerted by a passing dog walker but unfortunately resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
Kevin has been a valued member of the Officials’ community for many years. Always reliable, always available, friendly, helpful and unassuming he has led the timekeeping line at a huge variety of events across all disciplines and ability levels; from local school events to national and international championships at track, road and cross country.
This is a huge loss to the Northern athletics community, and Kevin’s club Holmfirth Harriers not to mention the wider athletics world and our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends at this sad time.
Details of Kevin’s funeral have now been released and will take place at 14:45 on Tuesday, 4th April, at Huddersfield Crematorium.
There will be a reception afterwards at the Meltham Golf Club.
